Proposition 12 will enable the program to advance construction on a portion of Phase I of the US 290/Hempstead Corridor Program.
In April 2010, the Texas Transportation Commission approved approximately $420 million in Category 2 funding through TxDOT’s Unified Transportation Program (UTP). The UTP is a ten-year forecast, not a budget or a promise to build projects, and the revenue can only go to the program if it is available in the future. Due to funding challenges at both the state and federal levels, funding for the remaining portions of the corridor has not been identified. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) continues to work with its agency partners to advance program design to reach a level of readiness to enable the Program to utilize any additional funding mechanisms that become available.
