DEIS Info

Community Driven: We’re listening to you!

We encourage you to provide your valuable input to us at TxDOT in regard to the reconstruction of the US 290 Corridor. Your official verbal and written comments made during the 2007 DEIS Public Hearings -- as well as the written comments made through Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007 until 5 p.m. -- will help guide us as we work to improve your commute. They will also allow us to identify ways that we can demonstrate our concern for your community and care for your quality of life.

In addition, we appreciate all who have taken the time to share with us your questions and thoughts through numerous e-mails, phone calls, office visits, Web site feedback form submissions and impromptu one-on-one conversations at various events.

We sincerely listen to your feedback and take it into consideration. In fact, we were asked by several members of the public to place the US 290 DEIS map drawings online for greater convenience, clarity and usability. We fully understand the importance of adding such information to the Web site, and that is why we have fulfilled those requests.

We are pleased to announce that you can now access PDFs of those map drawings through the links provided below. These are the same files that were presented at the US 290 DEIS Public Hearings on July 16, 17 and 24, 2007.

IMPORTANT INFO TO KNOW!
Please be aware these DEIS map drawings are preliminary and are subject to change.

Potential modifications being considered

We are currently discussing the benefits of modifying proposed locations of the Hempstead Toll Lanes and the Advance High-Capacity Transit (AHCT) reserved corridor, as presented in the May 2006 DEIS. The DEIS shows proposed right-of-way widths that accommodate:

  • US 290
  • US 290 frontage roads
  • Hempstead Road
  • Hempstead Tollway
  • AHCT reserved corridor
  • Sidewalks
  • Bike trail

The width of the proposed Hempstead Toll Lanes and the AHCT reserved corridor would be modified. This design modification is proposed to keep the AHCT Corridor adjacent to the existing Union Pacific Railroad, providing a safer facility for the public. Please see the visual representations below:
